8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Rain or shine

Scenic Galveston – Estuarial Corridor and Virginia Point Preserves

Come join the Scenic Galveston (SG) team and our site sponsor, CenterPoint Energy, clean up the Estuarial Corridor and Virginia Point Preserves. After the clean-up, enjoy a Free Lunch with SG.

What is Trash Bash?

It is an annual event to help clean up designated areas throughout greater Houston. This year, SG will be hosting our clean-up in the preserve complex just south of Bayou Vista, shuttling volunteers around to several work sites as needed.  Reitan Point is located on the right-hand side of I-45 just after Bayou Vista.

What type of food/drink will be available?

SG supplies water for all volunteers during the clean-up   Lunch will be provided after the clean-up.

What kind of work will I be doing?

Since we will be cleaning up an area that includes waterfront and coastal prairie, you could be picking up trash/treasures from the shoreline, hauling away vegetation/trash from the road, or other varied tasks.

What should I wear?

Wear old clothes/shoes/boots that you do not mind getting muddy or dirty.  We recommend hats and clothing that match the weather – as noted above, we will be working come rain or shine.
We will supply gloves but if you have a favorite pair and are not afraid to get them a bit dirty, bring yours along.

Since you will be driving home after the event, we recommend that you bring clean clothes or towels for your drive home.

What else should I bring?

We supply bug spray and sunscreen but you might want to bring your own.  Cameras are always a fun way to capture the day.

Why should I participate?

What a great way to spend a Saturday with the infamous SG power crew and other like-minded volunteers!  Give back to nature and get an opportunity to commune with the seabirds and other wildlife.
