In line for
lunch at a previous Trash Bash
We’ll
be cleaning up an area that includes shoreline, coastal prairie and other
habitats, so there will be tasks for everyone.
This
year we have some areas that must be cleaned up from the water, so we can
accommodate volunteers wishing to participate from their own canoes or kayaks.
Contact us for details.
What about those
after-work activities?
There
will be a Trash-to-Treasure youth art project immediately before and during
lunch, focusing on the use of objects collected during Trash Bash.
We’ll
also be conducting one or more nature/birding walks after lunch for those who
choose to stay a bit longer. Binoculars are recommended but not required.
Call
Lalise for details at (713) 664-1870, or Gordon at (409) 945-2230.
A Trash
to Treasure participants
Wear
old clothes/shoes/boots that you do not mind getting muddy or dirty. We recommend hats and clothing that match the
weather – as noted above, we will be working come rain or shine.
We will supply gloves but if you have a favorite pair and are not afraid to get
them a bit dirty, bring yours along.
Since you will be
driving home after the event, we recommend that you bring clean clothes or
towels for your drive home.
What else should I bring?
We
supply bug spray and sunscreen but you might want to bring your own. Cameras are always a fun way to capture the
day. For your comfort, we encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs and
picnic blankets.
How do I sign up?
Trash to Treasure is limited to children 13 years old and younger. Limited spaces are available so secure your place by emailing us. General participation in the Trash Bash and Trash to Treasure can speed up the on-site registration process if you would take the time to download the registration form and fill it out before your arrival. Please be sure to email us with a head count as well. Click here to email us.
